Where are Nordegg’s Via Ferratas?

‘The Fox’ is located on Mt. Stelfox, and ‘From Nordegg With Love’ is on Mt. Elliot, a few kilometres apart. They are about 30 min west of Nordegg and about 2 hours north of Banff in Alberta’s beautiful Rocky Mountains along the David THompson Highway.

What is a Via Ferrata?

Via ferrata is Italian for “Iron Road”. On a via ferrata route, individuals climb vertically up a mountain along iron cables using secured rungs placed in the rock, similar to climbing a ladder. At times the exposure feels extreme, however climbers are safely secured to the cable with a lanyard and are rewarded with beautiful views along the route.

Can anyone climb Via Ferrata?

Climbing a via ferrata route is a fantastic way for beginner and intermediate climbers to experience the thrill of Multi-Pitch climbing. It is highly recommended that you only climb via ferrata routes with ACMG guide or someone who has experience on the via ferrata routes.
