Course Details
Over two days, participants will be introduced to the core movement foundations of ice climbing and the essential technical skills required to safely place screws and build reliable top-rope anchors on ice. This course establishes confidence, efficiency, and safety awareness—key building blocks for all future ice climbing progression.
Objectives:
Build foundations for good ice climbing techniques and movement skills:
- A-Frame – Middle, Left, Right kicking
- Swinging basics
- Heels when low-kicking, small steps, kick from sagged position
- Concave vs. Convex features
Introduce the skills needed to safely top-access simple ice venues and set up TR lines.
- Cleaning ice for beginners – go deep
- Ice Screw placement & V-Thread
- DARN Solid Anchors on bolts & ice
